Happy Birthday!

This little girl is really a doll – she is so perfect and always looks like a beautiful little porcelain doll.  She’s got a personality to match, always happy and smiling.  She’s got a birthday coming up, a very important birthday.  She’s turning one, so we had a little cake for her.  And she had the most beautiful little tutu and birthday hat (even though she wasn’t too thrilled about that).

Here she is standing up and showing off how big she’s gotten.

A close-up with the dreaded party hat – hats and babies don’t always work out once they are old enough to take them off.  But she didn’t fight too much.

After the cake – it took her a while to get into it, but eventually she was covered in cake and sticky, gooey icing.  Nothing is more fun than sugaring up someone else’s kid and then sending them home at 7pm on a Friday evening!

Scarlet is 7 months old (and loves the Cardinals).

I visited Scarlet this morning before the big game between the Cardinals and the Eagles.  It’s hard to believe that the team that everyone in Phoenix LOVES to put down is actually Superbowl-bound, isn’t it?  Scarlet’s family was planning to watch the big game after our session, but she wasn’t yet dressed up in Cardinal’s red.  Instead, she was pretty in pink for our shots outside and in her room, then she had a beautiful white dress for some shots by the window.

Imaging USA

No pictures from this one…maybe on Tuesday!

I spent yesterday downtown at the convention center at the Imaging USA convention.  It’s an awesome chance for photographers to attend classes taught by the masters in the photography world, as well as to check out the newest products and visit with colleagues.

It was a chance for me to ride the light rail from the 19th and Montebello park and ride down to the convention center and it was great!  The train was pretty empty at 6:20 in the morning, but in the afternoon it was PACKED.  The topic of discussion was the Cardinals.  Everyone was amazed that they were coming back for the final play-off game.

It was also a chance to visit the new revitalied convention center.  It’s amazing how nice downtown Phoenix has become.  A photographer from out of town mentioned that she had walked 2 blocks from the light rail station to the hotel at night and was a little nervous, but I reassured her that the part of Phoenix she was in was definitely not a “bad” part.  I don’t know if I could have said that truthfully 10 years ago.

I’ll be back at the convention on Tuesday for more classes and a chance to visit the trade show.

Baby Keira – due in February

I am sure this little girl is going to be a cute little thing!  Her arrival is scheduled for early February and mom and dad are so excited to meet her.
