A fun evening with Emme and Jake

I met Emme and Jake yesterday evening at the local retirement community’s recreation campus. It was a beautiful evening and the kids had fun chasing bunny rabbits and looking for fish.

Emme was so happy in her pretty white dress:

Jake was a typical boy, looking for rocks and twigs and leaves and anything fun to investigate:

It was sweet how they were so close, you can see that Jake really takes the big brother role seriously! They were looking for a huge orange koi that had swum away when we approached the edge of the lake:

Finally, the negotiation of the feathers began. Emme found a bunch of feathers, which Jake wanted. They had to decide which ones she would allow him to have:

Congratulations to John and Madison!

This past Saturday they were married at the Phoenix Zoo, right in front of the giraffe and ostrich Savannah. They even had some wild guests at their wedding – a snake and a Harris hawk.

Time to start married life together:

Coming attraction – baby Evan!

Little guy Evan is due to be born in early November, so of course pumpkins are a great prop to use this time of year.

I can’t wait to meet Evan, I’m sure he’s going to look nothing like a pumpkin when he arrives – although I’ll be sure to have a nice pumpkin hat for him to wear, if he wants!

Day at the zoo – lots of animals!

Grace and I have the week off, and the weather is finally nice – so we went to the zoo. It’s nice to get up close and personal with the animals, and for the most part, you can. Of course the dangerous ones are behind a fence, but even so you can get closer to them than at most zoos.

We fed the goats, and the ducks, and the giraffes. We took a ride on the skyride. We came home hungry and tired, but we had a great time.

A little Ladybug

Peyton is such a cute little girl – the happiest baby I’ve seen in a long time! She didn’t fuss or cry, even when mom and dad dressed her up in her Halloween costume. The puffiness and the big wings didn’t bother her one bit, and she was cooperative the whole time!

Not only was she cooperative, she was full of the cutest little smiles!
