Happy birthday, part 2

Today was the “real” big day. Gracie woke up and was happy and full of smiles. We’ve been practicing how to answer the question “how old are you?” all day. For the past year, she’s insisted that she is 2. This time, we’ll get her to give the correct age!

We had a chocolate cake, picked out by the birthday girl. She didn’t eat the cake at all, only the frosting. Then she opened her little pile of presents – Dora panties, a Dora video, Dora card game and a few little outfits (amazingly, NOT Dora themed!)

Happy Birthday Grace!

It’s hard to believe, but Grace is going to be 4 years old tomorrow. She sat still for a few photos in her pretty new birthday dress. You can see her nice scar on her eyebrow (thanks to brother Adam and a sliding glass door) as well as some unidentified blue – I think she hit her head on the island in the kitchen, but she could have been playing with a blue marker.

We went out for lunch today at On the Border. They sang happy birthday to her and she was terrified. She hid behind daddy’s back the whole time! Tomorrow we’ll be doing cake and presents, I’m sure she’ll be happier with that.

A proud big brother

Isn’t this guy just so proud to hold his little sister? She’s 2 months old and cute as can be. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a big brother who was so happy to hold and keep his little sister safe and sound.

And she was so happy to hang on to his finger…although I think he’s the one who is wrapped around her finger!

A fun family session

I was asked to photograph a family reunion of sorts in downtown Phoenix this weekend – actually, it was grandma’s 80th birthday party and everyone was going to be there to help her celebrate! This was a far-flung family, with one person having just come from Iraq, one from Texas, one from Phoenix – a lot of traveling!

And this little girl was only 1 month old – what a sweet little girl she was! She cuddled with everyone and wasn’t at all fussy. Mom and dad looked on as I got this shot.
