The last day of vacation

For some odd reason, summer vacation has seemed to come to an end so much earlier this year. I go back tomorrow for four days of in-services and frenzied attempts to move into my new classroom. The kids and the husband don’t go back until the 11th, so they have two more weeks. But I don’t. So we tried to make the most out of our last day.

First, Marie had to go see her ophthalmologist. She had surgery back in March to correct a lazy eye, and this was her follow-up. She needs to patch for a couple of hours a day, and we found a cute patch for her – of course since it had a unicorn on it, she was happy to wear it. She’s not really into unicorns, but she LOVES horses.

We ended up arriving early at the doctor’s office, so we goofed around a bit in the yard. The kids were going to get haircuts later in the day, so this was their last chance for “hairy pictures.”

Gracie was cranky, but she was willing to sit still for one photo.

And here Adam is after his haircut, Marie still hadn’t had hers yet. But you can see how she’s growing so tall!

So now we’re ready for the new school year – new backpacks and supplies, new haircuts, all doctor and dentist needs have been taken care of…let’s hope 2008-09 is a good year!

Steven – happy and sad!

Steven is one year old and he’s quite the character. He’s just now at that age where only Mommy can do. He didn’t want to let go of her throughout our entire session. This image is so cute, and I think it completely summarizes his feelings about his time in the studio today:

But I don’t want you to think I’m a mean ogre who is cruel to all of the little ones who come my way. Steven didn’t cry the whole time – I did get a few smiles out of him!

So happy birthday Steven – and I can’t wait to meet your little brother!

Meadow – 4 months old

Meadow is now 4 months old and she’s so sweet, just like her name! She was a little fussy this morning, but she was willing to wear this cute little flowered hat. She does get cuter each time I see her, so I can’t wait to see her again in a few months.

Annie – one year old

Annie - one year

Annie just turned one year old, and she is ACTIVE! I’ve never seen a little one-year old as confident and mobile as she is. She is curious and has no fear – she was ready to climb atop chairs, benches, pretty much anything she could get her hands on.

I love the little smile she has in this photo, and the sparkle in her eyes – she looks just the right mixture of innocence and curiosity.

Happy birthday, Annie!

Daddy is going to Iraq

daddy and reagan

This cute little girl is 15 months old. She came in for some photos with her mom and dad because her daddy is leaving for Iraq this weekend. He’ll be stationed there for 13 months and will need to take some nice pictures of her with him. She was so sweet, and very loving towards her dad! She especially loves to play with his wallet and his dog tags!
